PEDAGOGY
Ecole des Nations (pédagogie Montessori) welcomes pupils from 3 to 12 years of age in TWO SECTIONS:
Two classes in Preparatory : from 3 to 4 years old and Lower Elementary from 4 to 6 years of age, (HarmoS).
Three classes in pper Elementary : from 6 to 12 years old.
The pupils benefit from the experience of qualified and specialized teachers, of French and English mother-tongue, a teacher of German, specializee staff for the after-school care.
The mixing of ages plays an important role in the learning process. Children use self-discipline in an environment which has been set for them and thus acquire autonomy and independence. The mixed ages follow an order corresponding to the different stages of development while maintaining good social relations and tolerance.
The children can move from one section of activity to another. Besides regular classes, afterschool activities are proposed.
The Montessori material and furniture encourage growth with the attention stimuli of the child towards a process of concentration.
In the bilingual classes (in Preparatory and Lower Elementary), teaching of reading and writing is given in French and English orally. The child is immersed in both languages.
Musical approach is gi ven by the Montessori teachers using the special material of "The bells", Montessori tool used in all Montessori schools.
In the Upper Elementary (6 to 12 years), learning started in the 3 to 6 years classes is pursued with the same approach and ambiance but with a more sustained rhythm and always with the same respect of the rhythm of each pupil.
English is taught by immersion by an anglophone teacher and an assistant, both English mother-tongue, coming in each of the three classes a full day to one-and- a-half day. This allows a greater concentration in the acquisitions of learning in-depth in the English language.
German is taught from the 4th grade elementary. Instruction in computer sciences is given from the 3rd grade and an interactive screen is used in the three classes.
Supervised studies from the 4th grade are offered once a week under the supervision of a qualified supervisor.
This age-group has a great need of physical activities and several hours are devoted to sports and swimming classes.
After-school care (garderies) with various activities are available on Wednesday afternoons and after classes.
