OUR PEDAGOGICAL PROJECT
Our educational choice is to put Montessori pedagogy into practice from 3 to 12 years old, in an open way and adapted to the habits and customs of our time, but with respect for its principles and its philosophy.
Our goal is the well-being of our pupils first and foremost and our goal is to get them to prepare for their learning as an individual, with respect for their needs and interests, for a harmonious and successful integration into an education system different upon leaving school.
We prepare our pupils for the common evaluations under the same conditions and on the same dates as all public schools in Geneva.
We have chosen to become an examination center for the Cambridge Young Learners Exam and register our students for the Starters, Movers and Flyers tests from the age of 7. This particularity allows pupils who will continue their education in an establishment abroad, and / or as part of an English curriculum, to be well prepared.
Our School, located in a Romand canton, gives priority to the initiation of writing and reading in the French language from 4 years old. English is taught orally from 3 years old.
The classroom environment is bilingual from 3 to 6 years old. English is spoken only for comprehension and expression. The pupils are exposed to both languages during school hours.
From 6 years old, in upper Elementary, English is taught through lessons given in small groups, according to the level and ability of each pupil. Learning to read and write in English begins at the age of 6 and the PER (Programme d’Etudes Romand) curriculum can then be followed.
The education of the body through sport and motor skills is part of our educational project from 3 years old. Motor skills and sports activities are offered, supervised by professionals according to the principles of Montessori pedagogy.
Outdoor education is part of our project through various activities throughout the year, on the initiative of teachers but also in partnership with the “Ferme de Budé” (close to the School) and the Association “J’aime ma pIanète”. Regular workshops supplementing the curriculum are offered in this context.
Our educational project is open to artistic expression and music through participation in concerts and artistic events chosen every year by teachers and their pupils, in order to enrich their sensitivity and their discoveries. A musical awakening programme is offered as part of the After-school care activities. Preparatory classes are equipped with bells - Montessori music material for learning sounds.
